@inspector_preston: Rhis is a common Plumbing condition that I see almost every day that causes thousands of dollars of damage. and it has a very inexpensive and simple fix. #inspector_preston #bigbunchanope #inspectortok #homeinspector #homeinspection #plumber
the homeowner replacing it promptly could have the same affect.

If you have a boiler you should have it serviced twice a year. This on the homeowner not the hvac guy sorry I’m gonna stick up for my hubby on this one Preston. Boilers are nothing to joke with. Get them serviced in the spring and the fall.

No, It would look like trash! They come with a check valve now that makes it take 1 minute to replace it and doesn't effect the system pressure. I just replace them every other year when servicing. plus the way who ever set that up is horrible. It should be on a spirovent.

I’m Not an HVAC contractor but an energy auditor so we assess heating systems. That thing has way more issues than that and Is would bet it hasn’t been serviced in a very long time. Oil fired units should always be serviced annually and it should have a service tag.

How hard would it be for the consumer to make one, because the HVAC personnel won’t do it because it cuts into their income

I’m not an HVAC or a plumber, but I know general HVAC and plumbing, so is that to say also that the previous homeowner neglected to have any service done on their unit for quite some time

Im one of the rare one that dont use those bleeders or bladder expansion tanks. If you know how to plumb them a rafter expansion tank is best. Forces the air into the tank

Or you could just have your equipment serviced. That is not from a few days of leakage or even a few months. You should make one of these drip pans if you charged $10 I would buy them if they actually worked

Rapid quality construction :
They have to be a certain distance from boiler thus is standard in insulation and they don’t leak when new if they do there maintenance this won’t happen

If the system is maintained yearly, the rusting would not happen. I agree the high vent will leak over time, which is why systems need maintenance yearly.

This will blow your mind, but you can install a 1/4” tubing on the thread at the top of the automatic valve, and run it to the t&p valve floor drain
