I HATE when people blame Seita for Setsuko's death. He's a damn teenager. Yes, maybe he should've take care of her and get food instead of stealing. But he's in pain too. He feels so regretful and empty. You can tell it when you look at his eyes. The aunt was disrespectful to them too. And she was mean.

You'll never make me believe that Saita was to blame for Setsuko's death. Their aunt made them sell their deceased mother's own clothes to pay for food they couldn't even eat until they were full. Setsuko herself said she couldn't stand living with her aunt anymore and that she'd rather live under a bridge. Going to her aunt's house would only bring more humiliation and precarious conditions. Besides, Saita didn't even know what "nutrition" was; he would never let his sister die knowing he could help in some way, he was a child. And he did everything he could.

Some people said its seita's fault, Saying Seita's "ego" is why Setsuko died just feels wrong, you know? It's way too easy to sit here and judge when he was just a kid trying to do the impossible. Setsuko never blamed him, and that says a lot. He wasn't some adult making calculated decisions; he was a child completely on his own, trying to keep his little sister alive while the world was falling apart. It's not like he had a ton of options. He was scared, probably making it up as he went along, and every choice he made was because he loved her and wanted to protect her. To call that "ego" is to ignore how awful war is and how it destroys everything, especially the innocent. It's a heartbreaking story, and blaming a kid for it just doesn't sit right.
