just do a 50% water change and keep doing it. use a bowl or plastic bag to cover the bottom so the settlement doesn't stir

Just set this up on Friday. Half stratum, half sand. I put a bag on top of the substrate and gently filled - didn’t disturb the stratum at all!

1-2 weeks. Keep it filtered and if it’s clear enough you can put your fish back in within a week (don’t if not clear enough. I am having the same problem currently)
