Otto Warmbier, an American college student, was detained in North Korea in January 2016 and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor for allegedly stealing a propaganda poster. Shortly after his sentencing, he suffered a severe, unexplained neurological injury and fell into a coma. He was released in June 2017, still comatose, and returned to the United States where he died a week later. The cause of his death was determined to be lack of oxygen to the brain due to an unknown injury

He damaged a political handpainted poster, trespassed in a military only zone and was charged with espionage. American doctors didnt find ANY evidence of torture, couldnt rule out botulism and his own parents refused to do an autopsy. Not to mention they requested to take away his feeding tube. If you westerners care so much about torture, why don't you talk about Abu Grhaib? What about Guantanamo bay? What about the 4000 inmates that die in American prisons each year? People who love to give into the propaganda that he was tortured have a misplaced sense of pity 😭

I’ve researched this case a lot, the only “evidence” that Otto took the poster was a super grainy video of a man pulling the poster off the wall. He didn’t even take it- and there’s no way to confirm it was Otto. They tortured and forced a confession from him. If you listen to the conference where he confesses it’s completely written by North Korean Officials, and not Otto himself.

I saw this story fully covered by Stephanie Soo on YouTube, which broke my heart 😭. He and his family didn't deserve that. He died! And North Korea released him back to the US when he was already bound in bed and dying. They have tortured the young man. What a sad story.
