There are a couple things like being a detailed listener and the ability to calm a situation. My sisters favorite thing about me is giving eulogies (we’ve had our fair share of love ones passing) but I think it’s because I can recall my favorite memories in detail and tell stories well.

I love learning things. It can come from a toddler, a disabled person, some random person I just met, or a recognized authority figure. It doesn't matter to me who's teaching me even if they don't know they are teaching me something. Because of that love of learning I have so much knowledge and so many skills that have come in handy throughout my life that I never would have thought to search out otherwise.

It's pretty easy for me to talk about this with my community and loved ones - and we have good practices around doing this in my community of friends. But it would be pretty strange for me to do it at work because workplaces, in my approximation, really aren't interested in those things. The things I love about myself - my way with words and storytelling capacity and encouraging nature don't drive KPIs 😂.

we have been conditioned to view ourselves as unworthy because we aren't "perfect" so we can tell you a loooong list of things we want to improve. But we never focus on the positive qualities in ourselves. It is so sad

It could have been one of several things…. 1. They don’t like themselves 2. They don’t believe others see or believe the thing the like about themselves 3. Old school humility (or fake humility) prevents them from “bragging about themselves. Thank you for the great post. I love love love my resilience.
