She was the daughter of Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (RA), the Prophet Muhammad’s closest companion and the first caliph of Islam. Aisha was born around 613 CE in Mecca and was married to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) at a young age, becoming one of his most beloved wives and earning the title Umm al-Mu’minin (Mother of the Believers). Known for her intelligence, sharp memory, eloquence, and deep understanding of Islamic teachings, Aisha played a major role in the preservation and transmission of the Prophet’s traditions. She narrated over 2,000 hadiths, making her one of the most prolific female narrators in Islam. Her narrations cover matters of worship, ethics, family life, and more, providing invaluable insight into the Prophet’s private and public life. Aisha was also a scholar and a teacher. Companions of the Prophet and later generations of scholars would come to her for guidance and rulings on religious issues. Her home became a center of learning after the Prophet’s death. She was known for her courage, her sense of justice, and her active role in important events, including during the caliphate of Uthman and Ali (RA). Though she witnessed political turmoil in the later years of her life, she remained a respected figure in the Muslim community until her passing in 678 CE.
