Hi tip from a dog groomer, the reason you’re having a tough time getting clippers through the dog is because you’re never supposed to cut unprepped hair. The hair still has all of its curl & dirt build up which can also lead to a choppy, uneven haircut. Bathe before, use a velocity dryer to blow the curl out until the dog is dry, and then make sure you brush & are able to get a metal comb down to the skin without snagging on anything before you even start the haircut. It is easier on your equipment & gives a better outcome!

there’s a dematting brush you can buy that is amazing at getting all the mats out of your dog and if you keep it brushed it doesn’t get mats!! 👍🏼👍🏼

Just a heads up - doing her dirty will dull your equipment faster so you may need to replace your blades more frequently than if you washed/dried her first.

i’m a groomer and i see a lot of people come in with dogs and say they are brushing their dogs regularly but they are still matted. i recommend a long brissel slicked brush and then go through with a comb! line brush and then go over it with a comb to make sure you get all the tangles and mats out!

Brushing with a slicker brush and a comb daily is a good way to ensure she doesn’t get mats. Curly haired dogs are definitely high maintenance lol
