science is not a 1 person thing, it takes a ton of community and collaboration to discover new things. Also, experiments to test new physics are so expensive now because we are dealing with the limits of technology. It took 50 years to get the higgs boson from the theoretical to experimental, and billions of dollars spent along several countries to accomplish it. 1 person science is not a thing anymore

Actually, you shouldn’t hate on him. For example, I love physics even though I don’t have a physics degree—I have an engineering degree. That guy is a software engineer, so he does have a technical background. You shouldn’t judge so quickly—Einstein’s ideas were also considered crazy and rejected many times. He even worked at a patent office for years before gaining recognition.

so much of our media and pop-sci is about genius individuals who made unique discoveries, Einstein, Newton, etc. This is likely because capitalist ideology has an obsession with the brilliance of the individual rather than the collaboration of groups. You also get this in business and politics, among others; it's just so frustrating

I mean, there was that one guy who solved some pretty major math problems, and when asked to explain, he just Said “god revealed this to me in a dream” and no one could understand him, until he was proved right later. He’s probably an outlier though.
