As someone who knows how to perform CPR and use an AED, there is no way I would have sat there, waiting for the EMTs. Fail me and I’ll come back and retake it. You can’t let someone risk dying like that.

Theres a new bar exam to start in 2026. I think medics need to be outside or one should be a proctor to look for signs of distress

Not just the bar exam, the entire legal profession needs to take a long hard look at the cutthroat and extreme pressure placed on junior associates

I was there taking the exam when this happened. NCBEs lack of emergency protocol was reckless and placed lives at risk. The entire situation was distressing, traumatic and horrible to witness. I am praying for the examinee and her recovery. Thank you for using your platform to shed light on this tragic incident.

Gosh that happened to someone while I was taking the bar in California too. It was before we started the exam. Everyone was quiet and ready for the instructions to start when all of the sudden we heard a very loud scream and I turned around and there was a guy on the ground. Everyone started yelling call 911 but no one had phones with us in the room. It definitely made the experience more stressful and traumatic. I saw when paramedics came and took the guy and the guy was still moving which was my only indication that a guy hadn’t just died in front of me.
