The thing that aggravates me most is when an alert and oriented patient asks for one because she doesn’t want to have to get up.

I feel like it’s a user/staff error. Rather, understaffing. These devices need to be checked and monitored. Purewick is amazing when used for patient care and dignity - NOT when used bc staff is unable (usually due to staffing) to get patient to/from commode

When you have 5 patients all heavy, have no CNAs and no help yeah they go on because you don’t have the TIME to help patients go to the bathroom. It sucks but yet again another issue that goes back to hospital greed 🤷♀️

Then we should have 3 patients max in order to be able to take everyone on a steady to the bathroom, check purewicks q2, turns q2, etc etc. but no we have 6-7 patients and 5 are total care. This is impossible

This sounds like an issue of staff not providing proper care and skin checks for patients with these devices in place. That and not changing them often enough. Don’t think this is an issue of the device itself.

Plus using them on postmenopausal women with genitourinary syndrome of menopause that is likely not treated. Their skin is already at risk without estradiol

I absolutely LOVED it when in the hospital. I have a very overactive bladder, so they IV's run straight thru me. I hope they address and fix the problems.

I used one in the hospital and loved it, but I can understand how they can have issues. I had to change mine every few hours.

I was in the ICU and had to wait 24 hours for my surgery and was not able to get out ofthe bed the pure wick with a lifesaver for me. Because of all the IVs I was on I could not stop peeing .This was so grateful.

I am so thankful for the purewick the hospital gave me after two of my major abdominal surgeries. Seriously, I couldn’t even make it to a sitting position before I peed myself. I was so embarrassed and felt so bad for the CNA’s who had to clean me up and change my bed linens.

All of the nurses in our hospital refused to use purewicks when our hospital ordered them. I’m so glad we did!
