Painting can’t be charged in most states unless it’s beyond normal wear and tear. Request a receipt that’s itemized and proof it cost that much

I had to sue one of my landlords in my 20s they tried to force me to pay for damage that was there BEFORE I moved there. I won because I documented that damage in my walk through when I first moved in.

Please look at your state laws, a lot of states painting is a standard thing for landlords they can’t take it out your deposit, same with carpet etc.

Fight it! I deep cleaned my place, and they claimed that it wasn't clean and they had to hire cleaners. But I fought it and got all my money back

We’re suing our rental office. We paid to have the carpets shampooed and the tile steamed. Photo evidence. Receipts. They charged us all but 50 of the deposit saying they had to clean the floors and replace a lightbulb.

I recorded my walkthrough when I vacated my unit and made sure to record inside every drawer, fridge, oven, dishwasher, etc. they tried to take $500 from our deposit for cleaning. I sent them the video of proof that everything they claimed was dirty, wasn’t and requested an itemized bill from them. They responded telling me they would pay me the full deposit back. It’s so frustrating how many slumlords are out there trying to take advantage of people

My last security deposit was withheld because of dust on a door hinge behind the door and one light bulb that needed changed, $1325 for that, I sued and didn’t even make it to court and they gave me my money back

My landlord from my last place TODAY tried charging me for carpet cleaning. This was the carpet that wa shampooed the day I moved out🤣 he took it back after a long text and pictures of the house 🤦🏼♀️
