cheer was the same for me! Girls joined cheer for the reputation not the sport and the atmosphere was awful. I wanted to tumble and everything else wanted to look pretty and date boys. competitive was great but sideline sucked so I switched to lacrosse instead!

From that story, it sounds like the cheer coach encourage the bullying, and definitely allowed it.. sorry that happened to you its should have never been allowed the coach should have put a stop to it as soon as it started, however happy you got yourself out of the situation..

Your “coach” was the weak one. Not emotionally intelligent enough to evaluate the situation, not mature enough to handle correctly. Coaches/ teachers fall in to two categories. There’s the great ones who truly love what they do and mold and shape lives. And then there’s the ones who do so much damage because of the old saying, “those who cannot do, teach”.
