THANK YOU 😩 This is so validating. This book was over-hyped. I was questioning myself if I was reading the same book others were reading and describing it as “the best love story ever”. Sis, it was at best boring of a delulu MC.

girl you didn’t get the book 🥹 I was in silence for 5 minutes after reading it. Also you probably read it with a 2025 hate-all-men (I also did) point of view, but let’s be honest: it’s a book from 1848, we need to think way beyond our 2 thousands point of view to actually get it. At the same time I understand the disappointment. Anywho, love the book, maybe give it another change since it’s a short one.

This book is sensitive .. I think ur right in that it portrays a figure of a vulnerable subject who is isolated, but at the same time it depicts how the connections he formed w Nastenka were from within and through that loneliness .. which produced a very sensitive and tender feeling btwn them .. almost showing how loneliness creates very specific forms of relationality that are beautiful and worthwhile even if they are fleeting. it’s a good book really
