@carolineontv: So how many of your parents acted astonished each month at the amount of “text messages” you sent when they got the bill? 🤣 #texas #school #news #millennial
As a high schooler. It’s not as much of not being able to use our phones during schools. Is the sole fact that our government is more concerned about our phones than gun control. Bc why is it easier to ban a phone but not guns? We wouldn’t be so concerned about our phones if the government took action on gun control!

As a Canadian, it seems like entitlement, but after reading the comments, it seems to be more of a safety issue. 🥺

This is a great law, kids need to focus on learning and not on scrolling social media

I love it when my daughter checks in during break and lunch. But I I can see how it can keep the social media bullying away from the school.

If there were stricter gun laws or safer schools, I imagine not a lot of parents would be so upset. My oldest will be in 4th grade this year. I will think about those uvalde kids every single day when I drop her off.

Because of the state of society. School shootings, lockdowns and whatnots. Word gets out even before school officials get word out. Ppl panic. That’s why having access to school phones is necessary!

as a previous teacher and as a parent to 3 kids. To answer your question about teachers not having rules on cellphones is because these parents are more cry babies about their kids not having phones in class then the kids are. I cannot even tell you the amount of law suit threats teachers and admin were getting about kids phones being taken. teachers gave up because it honestly wasn't worth the fight.

I’m a teacher. I try my best to enforce no phone usage during class. Honestly I had more problems with the parents calling and complaining about Me because I wasn’t allowing their kids to use phones

In MO I think phones can help kids. As a teacher, I see sev kids from covid & mass shootings plus school violence, the access to a phone in a moment helps ease those anxious moments (much like for adults & staff). Also used for health reasons such as checking blood/sugar levels for diabetics. Should be allowed but with stipulations and consequences for those that don't abide by the rules attached to it.

They focus on banning phones and not fixing the lunches. I’m becoming an 8th grader and I can’t use my phones in classes, but kids still need their phones to tell their parents to pick them up. My school is exactly like yours but I need to call my mom for after school activities and if I’m not able to do that, I could get home around 8 pm

‘10 grad here. And a mom of 4…I genuinely see no issue with no phones in schools. It’s 2025 and schools are capable of sending out emergency alerts to all parents and staff. Kids don’t need phones to text mom to bring them fast food for lunch or to tell mom a teacher was rude to them. I’m genuinely surprised at the amount of parents having an issue with this.

Because teachers allowed it, for example my son says that whenever they were done with their curriculum and there was really nothing else to do, the teachers would tell them to go on their phones I’m assuming to keep them quiet.
