I came in to pyrs from the rescue world. I've seen the worst of the breed (both behaviorally and genetically - it's likely that my first pyr had misdiagnosed GT). Now I want to preserve the good and purpose in the breed. I still will likely have rescues in my home, and there's nothing wrong with responsible ownership of rescues or well-bred dogs... or any dog.

Yes! As someone who has been in the trenches of pyr rescue in Alabama, the joy I get when I run into a well bred pyr at dog shows knowing that people are out there preserving what makes everyone fall in love with pyrs!

When I got my rescue I thought he was this mix! Did a dna test and turns out his top 3 are pitbull-border collie- Great Pyrenees 🤣🤣🤣 this dog has made me obsess over pyrs now!!!

I personally think that a mix dog will live longer than your purebred dog. the reason is because they aren't getting all of the problems that come with a purebred dog and let's be serious not all purebred dogs were bred ethically which is part of the problem... I'll take a mix any day 😎... and that goes for people too 🥰

Ughhhh same thing happened to me (fortunately not with the purebred people yet) before I had Nox, most of my dogs were either rescues, “hand me down” pets from family or friends that could no longer keep their pets, or fosters. Just because you have a purebred does NOT mean you do not support giving rescue dogs and mutts homes. We love ALL animals. They all deserve homes regardless of background and thinking a person can only support one or the other is really weird. I know for a fact I will always have a room for a foster or rescue of my own in my home for the rest of my life.

I had 2 of the best Great Pyrenees ever. They protected our farm and were so sweet. However, their fur is AWFUL! Spider web like and sticks to everything. The matting too ugh. I went with a Kangal and Bulgarian shepherd this round. Love the Bulgarian shepherd’s fur texture…silky smooth. Beautiful mix you have there!

I totally get this struggle. Some of the people I volunteer with are hard core adopt, dont shop. I got into the wbpb world, because I was involved with rescues for years and owned byb pb dogs. It made me understand the importance of wbpb! ❤️

People don’t get it. I treat my foster fail disguised doodle like a show dog and adopted her bc she’s a great dog. Still bought a wellbred purebred dog too. You can support both rescue and ethical breeding for sure.
