You’re not alone if you’ve ever struggled deeply to leave a bad relationship. This may sound silly but listening to this song and making this was really emotional and cathartic as the someone who got away. This can happen to ANYONE, but being autistic and physically disabled has significantly impacted my staying in relationships that were not good for me or even abusive because I had been convinced by someone that they were the best their was. Even when experiencing abus3. I think about this song for any relationship or situation where someone tried to keep me so long and I finally had the courage to leave. I was not able to do so without friends or family DRAGGING me out. This refers to my first long term relationship which was abusive, a recent relationship where I loved someone but we weren’t right for one another, and a bad and unsafe roommate situation. I also see it as representing jobs I’ve done as a disabled actor where I was severely mistreated, but there’s no other choice. Leaving any situation like that takes so much courage and is SO HARD. But is ultimately for the best. Relationships should be equally supportive and loving, work situations should be safe, and people shouldn’t take advantage of you. If you’re in a bad relationship, you’re not alone. It will be ok. It’s still hard for me, but I’m so grateful for my friends and I am SO proud of myself.
