@gunter_doxie: One of the very first things our vet told us was to brush Gunter’s teeth. She specifically said to look for an enzyme toothpaste which will soften plaque. Gunter was super reactive and mean so I thought it was IMPOSSIBLE. Naturally I did the water additives bc they were available in every pet store but Gunter doesn’t drink much water. I also did the powder, but I realized they only soften and prevent plaque, not getting rid of what already exists. I also did chicken feet! But he only ate on one side of his mouth and it only targeted the back teeth, not the front. So I learned how to brush his teeth and boy, it was a process. But when we recently took him to the vet, the vet said Gunter was the healthiest dachshund he’s seen all year (aside from his tummy issues). After LOTS of experimenting, we found a toothpaste that works for him. He LOVES Petrodex, specifically in the chicken flavor and we use a doggy toothbrush we found on Amazon.
