I’ve long said that we need more POC executives, producers and development executives. For people who want to get into the business but their talent isn’t directing and writing, we need them in the C-Suite and having greenlighting powers. That’s where real change will take place.

As a POC, I think one of the aspects that isn’t being discussed is that culturally Hispanics are storytellers, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they want to get into the storytelling profession. There’s a lot of stigma around becoming an artist as a person of color because of the industry’s instability. I definitely faced criticism in my family. Hollywood wasn’t started by people of color so it makes sense that they’re having to play catch-up.

i understand the lac af melanin and is an issue that needs to be fixed but as somone who dreaks of being a showrunner particularly in the animation sector its actually cool to see how many women are there bc in 2010 there were only 15% of women in showrunning position and i think were approaching 40% now buuut i bet that were going to get back to that 15% with how shit is going -_-

Yup! A lot of my friends who are POC want to tell there story of how they grow up in there culture are getting pass because the executives don’t connect to my friends story because they don’t understand their culture
