JAL flight was delayed leaving the US by 3hrs. During the flight the head flight attendant went up to every passenger and apologized for the delay and asked if you needed anything.

I flew with a specific document from the US government and they had no idea how to process it here and had to call 2 upper management to figure it out. In Japan they knew exactly what to do and processed it immediately

Japan airlines held the plane for our honeymoon. Which is frankly insane. Ran to the shuttle to meet us and got us in and apologized for the delay to the other passengers. I wouldn’t fly with any other airline there.

I mean, sure Japanese people are polite, but in the culture it's like rude not to be. It is kind of forced politeness if you know what I mean? it's not like they really mean "from the bottom of my heart". it's just a hyper polite expression.
I get the joke though, just wanted to point it out for the people in the back 😆

Japan was the only place I have ever been where they held a flight, speedrun me through security in my own line and got a airport transport to my terminal. Japan work culture is top tier

we had to wait for the gate since it opens 3hrs before departure meanwhile at haneda we were able to check in and go through security 11hrs before our flight

I’ll never forget going through the security check line when leaving Japan. We put our stuff on the cray belt, and as we were taking our shoes off someone ran over “nonononono you don’t need”. I was confused. I can’t recall the last time I went through a security check with my shoes on 😆 They even had slippers available to keep socks clean but we didn’t need them.

Japan is the only country I've been in where they held a flight for 30 minutes because a family was running late. All of us Americans were really surprised they weren't left behind

I made sure to declare medication for sleep disorder. I guess not available in Japan since I was stopped twice while they made sure ok to bring in (I made sure it was).

Haruka Nishimatsu, the CEO of Japan Airlines, is a role model of how all CEOs should act and lead. It definitely shows.

I had a bag that was .3 kg overweight when my wife and I were taking our honeymoon flying out of Johannesburg, and the lady at the counter was just like "hey, FYI, you're a little over. Just make sure that you're under weight next time", and my jaw almost hit the floor. That would have been an instant $200 fee or having to jam a couple of things into my carry-on bag back in the US.

You should have used a Spirit Airlines background. Delta is the least egregious with that type of stuff.

Flew from HND to Ohare man it hits you in the face coming back to the US in terms of just the interactions with people

I was running late for the last flight of the night from Osaka to Okinawa and the person at the desk literally ran with me to the gate to make sure I got there before it left 😭

I can't tell you how many times they said my carry-on was too big and tagged it only for me to rip it off 15 seconds later in the jetway and easily fit it in the overhead bin. Hypothetically...

Honestly I got mad lucky when I was going to japan as a dependant. I forgot the orders in my checked luggage and when I got to customs I explained to the guy that I’m here for my wife who’s MIL but I don’t have the orders to show and he let me go and just said “Don’t tell anyone I did this”
