Coarse hair has its problems too, usually dry. Always need to have a bottle of hair moisturizer.

For all of my fine-haired girlies, henna is amazing since it helps increase strand width. The increased manageability is lovely. And if you don't want to affect your hair color, Indian hair care herbs (amla, shikakai, cassia, bhringraj, methi, neem, etc.) seem like they were DESIGNED to be used for caring for fine hair.

THIS. I take advice from girls with FINE hair PERIOD. Even if it’s pin straight, whatever they do works on my fine type 4 hair as well, because the common denominator is FINE. My hair has been thriving ever since !

Diet plays a big role. Get y’all protein up, I have high density fine hair and still wear braids but my hair is ✨flourishing✨ because I increase my protein intake.

Coarse sounds derogatory to y’all because y’all don’t know what it actually means. Coarse hair is stronger and wider than fine hair. Density refers to how many individual hair strands per square inch. More Asians have coarse hair strands compared to most Black American who have fine strands. If we start using these terms correctly it may help us break a lot of the stigma in our own communities about our own natural hair.

U right. I have very fine AND high density hair 🥲 When my mom was caring for my hair by constantly having me in twists as a kid, my hair was mad long. I did wash and go’s for years and my hair barely kept any length. This whole year I’ve been keeping my natural hair in twists and guess what? I’m finally seeing length retention again. Low manipulation is all that works for me. Smh, shoulda listened to my momma 😭
