What the heck 😂 who knew the sand could bleach pavers. Like, in all of the things not to know, this is a terrible one. 😭

Hi, I use to work in paver sealing. Typically you apply polymeric sand and then seal after. In your situation I recommend pressure washing the pavers and then using a HIGH glass sealant

So how would you do it differently? Seal first and then sand, or sand in smaller areas first?

Looks like the polymer got misted or wetted before all of it was blown away. This can cause hazing on the face of the paver. The sand can’t bleach the color additives in the pavers but it sure can hide them with a haze.

Less water to sand and use a leaf blower to remove excess sand

but why is the herringbone pattern not centered? you have a small triangle edge piece on one side and an almost full piece on the other side

Is it the sand brand? Or in general it can bleach the pavers?

My husband and I just did this on our fire pit (though yes our pavers were lighter than yours) and we used a sealer and it definitely deepened the color - it’s more of a wet look but maybe try something like that? These do look considerably lighter after the sand 😫

I remember what went wrong, you put the sand down and wetted it, leaving it too long and it left white spots. 😂
