He had done it previously as well. Unfortunately his first victim, Marie Elizabeth Spannhake, wasn’t able to get rescue. Her remains are buried somewhere out on route 44 in California. They still haven’t been found. It breaks my heart when I hear this story, both of these women. They went through so much that they didn’t deserve. There is an episode about it on Netflix’s “Unsolved Mysteries”.
