im surprised the bank didn't tell her it sounds like a scam. I work for a bank and they train us to look for things like the customer being coached on what to say/do. I suppose it's harder over the phone to recognize that, but still.

she did hold her hostage, it was financial abuse. 😩 My ex (a narc) did this to me and took a little over 4k. I always remember feeling extremely pressured and panicked to act whenever it was a situation involving money.
