I was hesitant to post because it’s so personal & raw, but during my pregnancy I watched SO many births because it made me feel more educated & confident. I hope any pregnant mamas out there that watch this know that the birth that they want is possible & to trust your body, you were made for this 🩷 Knowing that our daughter would be our last baby, I really wanted to try an unmedicated birth with as little intervention as possible (I had the epidural with our son). Of course, I always had an open mind about getting an epidural or whatever medical intervention was necessary for our safety but I wanted to trust my body & go with what felt right. Whether you choose to have pain relief or not, have a vaginal birth or c-section, you are bringing life into the world & that is a huge accomplishment. After my water broke at 6am, I wasn’t really feeling anything besides period-like cramps so we went to hospital to get baby monitored. They said we could go home if we preferred but I was hesitant that things would progress quickly & didn’t want to risk not making it back to the hospital in time. I’m so glad I stuck to my gut because after going for a walk to the cafe at 11am, contractions started to get more noticeable. After a few hours, I had to really focus on my breathing but I’d say the pain was a 5/10. But within minutes of my student midwife arriving (I was part of the continuity program so she had been apart of my pregnancy from about 26 weeks) she witnessed me breathing through my contraction to me not being able to control the sounds I was making 😂 & saying I felt like I needed to push 🫣 not long after, I had my first cervical check and I was already 9cm!!! So after trying my best not to push, and with Mark’s help I made it on the bed - there was no way I could make it to the bath. According to the midwives notes, I was in active labour from 2pm and after 3 pushes, our baby girl was born at 3:24pm 🥹 Despite how fast everything happened, getting a 2nd degree tear & haemorrhaging, Mark & the beautiful midwives created a calm and safe environment for me - something I will be forever be grateful for 💗 #labourandbirth #birthvlog #unmedicatedbirth #birthstory #positivebirth
