@chaoticforager: LOBSTAHHH!! Lobster mushrooms are the result of one fungus (Hypomyces) colonizing another (usually Russula brevipes, but sometimes related species like certain Lactarius). Unlike a lot of unfortunate run-ins between Hypomyces and other fungi, this parasitic combination works out pretty well for those of us who like to eat mushrooms, as it vastly improves the texture and flavor of the original. How would you use prepare lobster mushrooms? #hypomyceslactifluorum #lobstermushroom #mushroomauntie #mushroomedu #foraging
Lobster mushrooms are delicious!! Find some shrimp of the woods and you have a real vegan seafood boil 😜

I live in an area with many cedars. That’s where I find them. I do like the flavor but damn they are a pain to clean. I still put the effort in though. Cuz, they are good!!!

Do you grow your own mushrooms? I always imagine that foragers probably keep hidden “crops” out in the wild.

Quite possibly one of my favorites. To the point that even my in-laws now hunt for them.

Adding to the list of molded produce that made it tastier, the first one i found out was the ones on corn, i forgot but it made tem black but still white and still yummy to the point that some farms would purposefully innoculate that kind of mold/fungi to get that yield and I think its also a canned product too!
