Put dirty clothes on it, it doesnt smell like you yet so they dont like it. We did that with our cat tree and they loved it day 1. Just leave some clothes there for a few hours and it should work.

wash the cushions they often have a slight chemical smell that cats don't like. washing them with your regular wash will make it smell like your home stuff
