I used to think my problem was trusting the wrong people. But after reading Ego Destruction by Drenn Solace, I realized the real problem was betraying myself just to keep others comfortable. I gave away pieces of my identity to be accepted by people who would’ve never accepted me fully anyway. This book didn’t make me feel like a victim. It made me feel responsible — and from that, powerful.
