@leahhopehealth: Scar update! Keep in mind… these scars are 6 1/2 weeks old. They are fresh scars and they look like fresh scars. They will fade over time and it can take a year to see more of the final results when it comes to the appearance of scars. I scar dark. I have some small scars on my lower calf and ankle that I got from a dog bite a year ago that are still a little darker in color and they might never be fully faded. I didn’t go into this surgery (or any of my surgeries) assuming my scars would be barely noticeable someday. I went into it with eyes wide open knowing that every body is different and scars differently and it’s very possible my scars will be more noticeable than others for the rest of my life. I knew I was trading loose skin for scars and I wanted that trade. Some people have let me know they would rather stay overweight than have loose skin. Some have let me know they would rather have the loose skin than the scars. I am not one of those people. I want a full and healthy life where I am able to move freely and feel comfortable and at home in my body. I was first able to experience that even with loose skin. And now I’m able to experience even more of that with scars from getting that loose skin removed. I absolutely love my results! 🥰 I’m so grateful for @modernplasticsurgery for making it possible for me to experience life without my loose skin! And I’m thankful for the @Advanced Lipedema Treatment team for being there for me throughout this process! 🤗 #DrShawnMoshrefi #ALTProgram #Partner *every surgery comes with risks and each person has to decide what is best for them!
