@belovedcabin: Every time we’d drive past a big lake house, I used to think… wow, what a dream. Then one day, my husband said, “Can you imagine how hard they have to work for that? Long hours, barely home, crazy property taxes…” And then he added, “Today, I took two naps.” That hit me. Do I really want to trade this life for that? Sure, we’re not making six figures, but we work on our own terms. No boss breathing down our necks, no office politics, no commute. We wake up with the sun, get our hands dirty on the homestead, and yeah… it’s still tough, but it’s our kind of tough. And the money we save by living simply? It helps us feed the 4-legged crew we’ve rescued… our little army of animals who now have a safe place to call home. So no, we don’t have lakefront property… But we’ve got peace, purpose, and a porch full of purring (and oinking and clucking).
