Why are they letting cats outside if they’re so strict on their welfare cats don’t live very long outside. They shouldn’t need a yard cause they shouldn’t be outside.!!!

I’m all for strict adoptions but a cat doesn’t need a yard! Indoor cats live so much longer. I used to take one of my cats out on leash but now with bird flu, I don’t even feel comfortable doing that anymore

I kind of like the yard rule. At least an outdoor space. Cats aren’t meant to be trapped inside houses, as much as North Americans think this is true, it’s just a trendy thought that’s actually cruel.

tbh in rural areas it's seen as a crime if you don't let them outside. their lifespan could be much shorter but I see how happy they are playing outside

That is weird. Letting cats outdoors shortens their lifespan from insect bourne disease, other animals (fights), cars, etc, so a yard should be irrelevant. And most cats prefer to be the only pet, unless they're a bonded pair since kittenhood.

Germany sounds like my cat’s version of hell. She wants nothing to do with other cats and outside scares her and she becomes a fainting goat.

U.S. cat adoption laws vary by state. Some states hardly enforce laws and there are strong laws in a few states like Florida’s new law with up to 5 years in prison for people who abandon pets during disasters
