Also, getting your finger in the barrel while someone is threatening you with said gun is WAAAAY harder than one would give it credit for. It’s better to seek cover and/or return fire.

the M9 and 92 Beretta if you push the barrel back far enough it prevents the hammer from falling. I would never depend on this cuz pulling it back resolved this issue and it is double action

you can prevent a hand gun from cycling by holding the slide. just don't be in front of it. you finger will not cause a squib as portrayed but cartoons

So, it takes a whole lot to obstruct a barrel. Demolition Ranch plugged the barrels or a bunch of guns with stuff like concrete, rebar, and I think he even welded one or something. Most functioned

as a gunsmith this is accurate. And what I heard when I was in school (reference to the bugs Bunny thing) is back in the day a lot of shotguns and revolvers were made with pot metal (recycled metals of varying kind and little to no control on what went in) And we're sold super cheap. due to the poor metallurgy they had a habit of blowing up and failing in catastrophic ways even with things as simple as plugging a barrel. tho I'm not sure it's as simple as plugging it with your finger 😂

grabbing the end of a semi auto hand gun will prevent it from cycling so as long as it goes bang away from you you'll be good

If it's a revolver, it definitely won't prevent the gun from firing if it's shoved up against your body. No slide.

The most realistic thing ive ever seen is the division trailer she grabs the slide and he does get a shot off but she manages to prevent it from properly recycling fully so it jams.

there are alot of really good youtube guys who show what happens when you fire a gun with a "squib" in the barrel. it is never good.

if you stick a flag that says bang on it down the barrel: the person will think it already fired so you're safe.

Fun fact. If someone points a gun at you, you’re not cool, and unless you have been taught by a professional to do anything in that situation. Put your hands up, and comply with thr gunman, look for ways out and something that can get you far away without much effort. (Car, boat, river if necessary) just remember that rule one is not getting shot and rule 2 is surviving long term. And yes you should TRY to escape that situation if you think you can. But I’m not a lawyer.
