@thenewsmovement: What do you do when someone seemingly steals your life story? That's what happened to Esme Hewitt, who wrote about her experience growing up in the UK after being adopted from China... later, a creator read her words as if they were her own. Both Esme and the creator, Xav, have spoken openly about the sometimes complex relationships they have with their identities after coming to Europe from China. We reached out to Xav about Esme’s claims. She said she didn’t steal her story, as she is an adopted child from China too. She added: “I did, however, do wrong in using some of her phrasing to help describe my story and have reached out to Esme personally.”

Leunaithe :
The crazy part is that xav’s “apology” wasnt even sincere. She kept words to minimise her actions like saying she shouldnt have used “SOME” of esme’s words and deleted comments calling this out

Some fan account made a “we stand with xav” video and she commented “thank you” there is no accountability.

Her partner’s behavior needs calling out too, the way he spoke to Esme and people in the comments was unacceptable

From start to finish it was word for word. But she just passed it off like she took a “few phrases” ….

Ive been plagiarised before and its the most shocking thing. It actually happens a lot more than ppl realise- particularly with big creators who blatantly steal from little ppl who they don’t believe will find out or out them.

I find it strange that her and her husband don’t understand the seriousness of this. Say you created an original painting and then someone else comes online a few days later and says ‘look at this painting of mine I just made’ which is a direct copy, I feel like they’d understand it better

There’s nothing wrong with with being your authentic self! She could have just wrote her own version and say she was inspired by Esme story! Since they both are adopted from China and might have similar experiences but word for word insane😫
