@gunter_doxie: As handsome as Gunter is with his beautiful golden eyes and shiny red coat, we did not buy him. We adopted him from a rescue called Dachshunds and Friends based out of Southern California. No one wanted him because he was actually a wild animal. With a LOT of work and love, we were able to rehab his behavior and work through Gunter’s stress and anxiety. We thought he was super aggressive, but turns out he was very fearful and he felt like he had to defend himself first. It’s been a process (almost 3 years with this little guy!), but we learned a lot about him and ourselves. At times it was so hard, I almost gave up. It was like having a child and I’m child free by choice (that’s another story), but I don’t regret it.
