I remember doing a similar activity and this cute femme instructor with tats & piercings looked at me at the end of the line up (after everyone else had just been assisted with their harness) and started walking past me with a laugh 'oh! *chuckles* well you know how to do this, right?' like half mocking but in a good humoured way - like she'd just said something hilarious and glanced back at me when I didn't laugh. I was so confused because .... no? do I look like I've done this obscure activity before lady? *raises brow at her & tilts my head to the side* And she stopped, looked me up & down like she was waiting for the joke *silence*. Her amused/happy lil half grin faded into a perplexed frown, then just shrugged and finally did my harness for me. On my end I thought she was a tad unstable or something, because why would she so confidently assume I had done this niche activity before? And why was that so seemingly funny to her? A few years later, I FINALLY clocked what she meant and I feel so bad because she had to have been 'in' on our world, to some extent, and we could have shared some secret knowledge and inside jokes that day 😭 I wonder how many other sapphics I've missed because I always assume everyone is straight until irrefutably proven otherwise lol.
