@missclairebenjamin: Handling a new job nightmare 👇 Getting off to a rocky start in a new role no induction, no training, no handover is such a horrible feeling. You’re left trying to piece everything together, often unsure what’s expected of you or whether you’re even focusing on the right things. So when your manager then turns around and tells you they expected you to be up to speed quicker, it can feel overwhelming, worrying, and even infuriating. Especially if you’re still in your probation period and starting to doubt your job security. The truth is, proper onboarding is essential. There’s so much research on how it helps people succeed. And yet so many people still find themselves in roles with little to no support in those crucial early weeks. If you find yourself in this situation, try to focus on what’s within your control. ✅ Proactively communicate what you need in order to succeed ✅ Share suggestions with your manager (e.g. shadowing a peer, a workplace buddy, a weekly 1:1, some clear short and long-term goals) ✅ Ask for their input too- what would they recommend? 💬 What advice would you offer to someone in this situation? Share your experiences and tips in the comments 📌 the advice offered in this video is general and won’t suit every situation. Always use your judgement based on your context & adapt accordingly. ➕ Follow for more strategies on navigating tricky situations at work #worktips #leadershipdevelopment #corporatelife #emotionalintelligence #difficultconversations #managingpeople #assertivecommunication #communicationskills

I disagree. Workers shouldn’t have to constantly be the ones offering the solutions to the bad management. Sometimes poor managers need to hear this kind of feedback in it’s rawest form so they learn. Tried the whole “make suggestions to improve things” and it fails.

If your new employer can’t even be bothered to induct and train you and then blames you for not being good enough it’s not going to be a nice place to work. I’d start looking for something else sharpish.

I’m in this exact situation and I’m going to quit tomorrow no job is worth the level of stress and anxiety of gotten, the managers didn’t teach me half of the stuff co workers would correct me on and teach me themselves , for anyone else that feels this way it’s not your fault the managers have to do better.

I was told I wasn't picking things up quick enough after 4 weeks in a job, no training or support by management so I made it easy for them and told them to stick their job where the sun don't shine

Staff shouldn’t make suggestions and explain to MANAGERS how to do their job properly and how to run a company !

I was in this situation, I was let go after 6mo probation period. Minimal introduction, no support from my manager. That company was so cruel.

I once had a job where my manager compared me (who had only been there 3 months at this point) to another worker who had been there for six years…great way to make a new hire feel completely inadequate. At that exact moment, I felt all the wind being taken straight out of my sails. Glad I don’t work there anymore.

My last job gave managers literally zero training and some of them had never been managers before. How do you expect people to succeed?
