Have balance. Niqab isn’t fard from the messenger. It’s a scholarly opinion. You’re told explicitly not to cover/shroud your face in umrah. Yet people find loopholes. Intentions are good. But don’t be extreme thinking it’s piety.

For people confused, you are allowed to cover your face during umrah, however you’re not allowed to wear niqab as it’s fit to the face, the prophet pbuh forbade men from wearing pants during umrah, doesn’t mean we don’t wear anything, no, we just cover it with something else, likewise the niqab, you cover your face with something else, this is what the women of the Sahaba used to do.

Even this is a form of covering your face. No covering Face and Hands in ihram state. This is again innovation if she did it. But outside Ihram state she can protect herself but I think transparant covering is not compliant with the requirement of wearing niqab. Whether or not it touches the skin.
