I’m not Italian, but my parents sent me back to Cuba (our home country) every summer from the time I was 9 until I was 18 and they were the most memorable summers. It helped me keep/improve my Spanish and stay connected with my family/culture. I think this is beautiful and such a gift that you can give her—especially at a young age! Great job, parents!

The year before I started kindergarten, I went to Korea with my grandma for 6 months. When I got there I spoke barely any Korean. When I came back to the states, I spoke zero English. I had to start school as an English language learner. 😆 crazy how quickly kids learn when immersed in the culture.
