This is one of my all time favourite foods in Vietnam and it never disappoints! And to top it off freshly squeezed orange juice and the banh mi for only $3! You can’t even buy a baguette for $3 anymore! 🤯 A little history about the Banh mi… It’s not a traditional food but when the French invaded Vietnam in 1887 they brought over the baguette. 🥖 Vietnam couldn’t grow wheat so it became an expensive item and Vietnamese were deemed inferior to eat them. During ww1 there were more shipments from America of wheat that became cheap for the locals to buy. They mixed it with their local ingredients making the baguette very affordable. In the late 1950s the banh mi was created by Mr and Mrs Le in Ho Chi Minh City, adding Vietnamese fillings and stuffings inside the bread making it easy, convenient and affordable for everyone to enjoy 🥖 Have you tried banh mi before? . . . . #Foodie #FoodLover #vietnam #vietnamtravel #banhmi
