"you're gonna learn by doing not by watching" 😭😭 you could rephrase that to "you're gonna learn by doing not by reading" and it doesn't lose anything so we shouldn't be buying the book either. also 1)

My local university is offering two degrees: which is more beneficial, computer science or ICT software development? I know I can google it but I want insights on someone in the field already?

All you've just said is something one could do in less than 5 days just by watching and coding along to one good video tutorial from YouTube. Sometimes I wish vloggers could be honest enough to tell the truth that "learning from video tutorials" doesn't always translate to "tutorial hell". If anything, "most" video tutorials are more comprehensive than getting a 1000 page book and hope read everything in it or worst case be able to know which topics to learn in 4-5 weeks as you purport in this video. While you are correct in your own right, just know your plan can be beat by someone who will go and take just two free video courses from someone like Brad Traversy on YouTube and code along in less than 3 days.

fundamentals/basics are really important, even if you should build boring projects.

Tbh with you, I'm currently learning. I don't use books so I don't know how it feels. We learn by doing, not just random not understandably watching but, by doing. For me, if I learn something new that day, I'll do challenges/problems and also go to website for more of them before I move to them next to be comfortable with it. 👌

I would take the Scrimba full stack course, its excellent, I am a pro member, the course is very well structured and they have a very good discord.
