I’m a manager and I get right on the shopfloor old school !! No office shopfloor for me and ask the team for feedback on me when I do their reviews and always ask are you happy with how you are being looked after

I applied for and got a manager role after 12 years in the same job, my first job was to find my replacement, then all the corporate bull started, I wasn't aware how much red tape there was, how many meetings about meetings there was, I tried to change things to no avail, I tried saying this isn't for me and requested to step back, im not allowed, now im a reluctant manager doing very little work, just meetings about work or about other meetings.

I’m bottom of the pecking order and managers ask me if something is okay to do. Sorry not my problem - your job is to manage, I don’t get paid to make you seem competent 😂

only worked at 1 place that did that with a new manager the higher ups asked for feed back we all gave honest feed back but it was ignored as they kept him as money was still going in tills and thats all they really care about

Been saying this for years. I used be a teacher and had endless 'graded' lesson observations by managemers (some of which had never taught in their life). These graded observations were directly linked to performance pay. Yet, not a single one of the managers were observed or checked by the teachers. Bizarre
