This is what happens when day care and summer camp cost more than a mortgage. People have to go to work and get desperate. We need to do better.

honestly if I was in that situation, I would feel 100x safer with my child at home, than in a locked car all day. I dont understand, unless the mother doesn't have adequate housing??

EVERYONE in TX uses visors....Let's not add our opinions in the details, because that's also immoral. And yes, there will be more moms that have to work and no one will watch their kids. COMMUNITY IS DESTROYED

If that child had no mental disabilities, there’s no reason why she couldn’t have just left the child home alone 🤷🏻‍♀️I started staying home alone when I was around 9 or 10 my mom had to work if the mother put the fear of God in the child she could’ve done the same but at home

It’s been insanely hot here in Texas with the heat index reaching well above 100 degrees every day. If the pew pew didn’t unalive the poor child, the heat would have. I can’t imagine what that mother was thinking. Being at home would have been safer.

unfortunately we are probably going to see things like this in this economy, people can't afford daycare.

This is gunna sound terrible but if ya trust your kid to stay in the car that long , leave em at home , lock the door , give em a phone , and set rules . I’d rather leave my kid home and in AC then in the car 🤷‍♀️

Why not leave the daughters at home, definitely safer than a car.

I would love on-site childcare over insurance benefits. This country hates mothers and families. They just want babies born.

ZERO blame on the daughter or anything/anyone else but the mom. Even suggesting it’s any of the daughter’s fault is outrageous. That poor girl. May she rest in peace.

After all these cases of kids unalive in cars on hot days, why do parents keep doing this?

Let's set aside our thoughts on why the child was left in the car... Unfortunately, it's a reality that too many parents have to face. WHY wasn't the car on with the AC running? I'm just trying to think that if she was out of other options, at least leave the car running with AC.

This is going to happen more and more as things get more expensive, assistance is cut and people feel like they have less and less options to survive

her mom probably told her not to or she would get killed. I was at target last summer and a girl was in a parked car with the window cracked open. she was crying which is how I heard her. I went up to her and she said her mom had been gone for a long time. she was also 9, she would not open the door for me because I was a stranger. I had to call 911 and the police officer had to get her to open the door

the lack of social safety nets for everyone mainly children in this country is criminal. I was home alone at that age, but super responsible most kids aren't. without the whole story its just failures everywhere.

If it were me I would talk to my boss and find a way for her to stay in the break room or even the bathroom. As long as she was in the AC.

If you need to result to keeping your kid locked in a car all day while you work and not even check on them, why not just leave at them home?

It’s more affordable for me to stay home with my child than have a two income household and put them in daycare…. One of us would just be working soley for daycare. It’s insane how unaffordable child care is..
