i’m a nanny, and I go on family vacation with my nanny family to help with the kids. At one point, the mom told me I was helping save their marriage, because I was taking enough of the load off of her that she could go back to being the fun wife without being stressed out all the time. As much as I am so happy that I was able to help them, it also made me so sad for her. She had to pay someone to help carry the mental load instead of having a partner that helped her.

I broke down to my husband the other day saying I hate being so irritable all the time and having zero patience, I HATE always feeling burnt out and miserable carrying so much load. We had a good few days following that then he went out and worked on his car, said our daughter (3) could hang out with him. Later on my daughter came back in the house with a cup full of old food from his car that she had been eating for god knows how long and he had no idea. Then the mental load was compounded again because how can I trust this man to actively keep an eye on our daughter when he says he would 🙄

I do love this! But I will say - I have a partner who shares equitably in responsibility, but with two working parents, sometimes you just have to intentionally choose fun and joy or you may never have it.

It's like going to the event planner and saying "why you on the phone all the time looking all serious?" Like. Someone needs to set up the "event" in which you're having your fun. My hourly rate is 200$ before taxes 🙃

I have to fly out of town for a week for work next month. I cannot wait! because my husband is about to learn real quick what it takes to care for the kids, while working full time. not just seeing them for 10 min after work before bed time. he will be on his paternity leave. so he will have all day, every day with them.

Men are the fun guys because we trust our children to take care of themselves, if they don’t? Then that’s the lesson they get to learn that day as long as there not getting hurt that bad. Didn’t bring water? Gotta leave early so you can stay hydrated should’ve brought water. Didn’t bring lunch? You’ll be fine till dinner, should’ve thought of that. These are the things we have to teach our children. They are basic life skills, and they take all the stress you’re complaining about away.
