@kinimaethnous: Historically, the Greek people dominated the Mediterranean through commerce, trade, military expansion, and settlement. However, the modern Greek state does not even come close to the borders of the Hellenistic, Macedonian, Byzantine, or Roman Empire. This begs the question, where did all of the Greek people go? Obviously, the actions of the Ottomans and Arabs was very destructive for the Greek people. However, most of the Greek people who disappeared were actually assimilated into other cultures. Many became Italians, Turks, Arabs, or Slavs through pressures to assimilate. Luckily, throughout many of these formerly Greek areas, there is a revival of the Hellenic language and culture. KTE believes that as an organization we must stand together not only with the Greek diaspora in the West, but we must also lead the charge to reconnect all of these peoples with the Hellenic homeland. #hellenism #diaspora #greeks #greece #greekamericans
