Terry Strada was holding a four-day-old baby when her husband called from the 104th floor of the burning North Tower and said, "Terry, a plane hit the building." Twenty-five years later, she stood at Ground Zero before four former presidents and Vice President JD Vance and demanded to know why her family was still waiting for justice. Tom Strada never came home. Their newborn grew up without him. Their other children were only seven and four. That morning had started painfully ordinary. Terry was caring for her newborn. Her first-grader was home sick. Her four-year-old was preparing for nursery school. Then the telephone rang. Terry almost ignored it. She thought Tom might simply be checking on the children. Instead, she heard panic. Tom was trapped inside One World Trade Center. He worked for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor. He told Terry that he was with other people who had cellphones and that they were heading toward the stairwell. A husband and wife exchanged a few private words. Then they hung up. Terry never heard his voice again. Twenty-five years carried that moment forward. Birthdays came without Tom. Graduations came without Tom. His four-day-old son became an adult without ever having the chance to know the father who had called home that morning. Then September 11, 2026 arrived. Families gathered again at Ground Zero. One by one, relatives read the names of the 2,977 people lost in the attacks. Four former presidents sat among those listening: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Vice President JD Vance was there too. President Donald Trump attended the Pentagon commemoration instead. Then Terry reached her husband. "My husband, Tom Strada." She told him he was missed more with every passing year. Then grief turned into fury. "How can it be 25 years and still we have no justice for the role that Saudi Arabia played in your m*rder?" Terry asked. Her accusation was directed not only overseas. She looked toward American leaders sitting before her. "For 25 years, administration after administration, including leaders in front of us here today, chose to protect the Saudis instead of standing with the 9/11 families. " Then came the line that carried a quarter-century of anger. "One betrayal after another." The crowd responded with cheers. Terry had finally said publicly what she believed years of private advocacy had failed to change. Fifteen of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens. For years, 9/11 families have pursued Saudi Arabia in federal court, alleging Saudi-linked individuals assisted hijackers Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar after they arrived in California. Saudi Arabia has repeatedly denied responsibility for the attacks. Then August 2025 brought a major opening. Federal judge George B Daniels rejected Saudi Arabia’s renewed attempt to dismiss the families case The ruling allowed the litigation to continue toward trial it was not a final finding that Saudi Arabia was liable for 9/11 Terry still wants more records released. She has specifically pointed to telephone records and other government material that families believe could shed further light on alleged Saudi connections. After her Ground Zero remarks she told CNN that 25 years was simply too long to keep carrying this fight But underneath every court filing sits something simpler. A four-day-old baby lost his father. A seven-year-old lost his father. A four-year-old lost his father. A wife answered one final phone call and spent the next quarter-century living with everything that came after it. Tom never saw his children grow up. He never walked back through his front door. Terry did all of that growing without him. Twenty-five years later, she stood where the towers once stood, spoke his name again, and looked directly at some of the most powerful people in America. She was no longer asking anyone to understand her grief. She was asking why, after 25 years, she still had to fight for the answers she believes her husband and children were owed.
