That AR scene/addition was pointless. And they didn’t even explain gladice’s supernatural element or story. A chapter about her would made this movie amazing.

The AR is because the children were turned into weapons. It’s foreshadowing. I don’t feel like it’s rocket science

We find out in that sequence that Archer is a toxic masculinity dude that never told his kid he loved him. I think the fun was a manifestation of his deep fear his bully kid was involved as more than a victim

I liked to think along the lines of the school shooting angle and basically this whole movie was some kind of collective psychosis by the town after the loss of the kids. It’s much easier to paint evil being done by some unexplainable force than something we can confront and control.

2:17, 17 kids vanished, 2 left were the teacher and Alex, AR = Weapon, it’s not that hard

It was maybe a 3/10. Literally everyone did what they could but the director is clearly to blame for this mess of a movie. Plot holes, unnecessary characters, no payoff, comedy and horror didn’t BLEND it was more like horror and then comedy. I wish I could see what some of yall do

I liked Josh Brolin’s take on it. He said something like; the dream taps into broader themes of how people respond to fear and what strength really means.

Movie was terrible so many plot holes, not scary more funny, no explanations to why the aunt is the way she is no explanations on why the FBI didn’t look into it smh waste of a movie

I think it’s an allegory for how the children were being used and how this country continues to fail our children’s safety at school. We don’t protect them while simultaneously act like we have no idea what the problem is and how to solve it.

Cregger said it has nothing to do with school shootings and prob shouldn’t be interpreted that way

Why do people keep asking this question out of everything, like this is prob the most obvious😭. The gun, a weapon, is above the house where all the people who have been turned into weapons are.

The more important question is why does Brolin and Garner get helpful dreams with hints? Why no one else?

my initial interpretation of the gun in theater was that as a father, his worst case scenario/anxiety as a parent was gun violence affecting his child/community, but in reality, what happened to his child was beyond his worst dreams. its just as senseless and confusing, and everyones looking for someone to blame but no one is doing anything to FIX it.

“ the great thing about art, the great thing about movies is that while it’s not explicitly stated why the object is there we can interpret it how we want” no BS, this is a perfect summary of so many things in media

There was a poster in the kids’ room that had someone had an AR. The brain tends to replay stuff it’s seen or heard when dreaming, so maybe he’s seeing it because of that. But you can also add to it for more in depth reasoning

I think it was just put there to be jarring and that’s it, and the time being put in the middle of it was for more for the trauma and it was good cus it got the audience looking more intently into his dream sequence
