New rules make it pointless they do a wisdom save of 14 if they pass spell works if not they can cast it again as spell slot isn't expanded (according to wizards of coast when talking about changes in 2024 books)

Our DM did this in our Strahd campaign. I spent two rounds to find the only scroll of revivify our dead cleric had on her person. When our DM rose from the table and snapped his fingers saying counterspell as I cast the spell, absolute diabolical ✨️magic✨️. Did I get up and leave the room while cursing his name? yes. Do I think about this moment a year later? also yes.
