While I did see people judging the quality, I think the backlash had WAY more to do with the *conceit*. You say it’s not right to judge the VFX work because people aren’t experiencing the way it was intended. Totally fair. And this whole enterprise is about disregarding the original artists’ intent.

it doesn’t make it better that the ugly alterations (horrible vfx, awful backgrounds, ai generated performances of dead actors, cut out like half an hour of the original movie) were not made by ai, it just makes it even more sad

I don’t blame the vfx artist but it makes me happy to know humans did this. The problem is 1. Crunch and 2. Not hiring a director that understands the artistic vision of the wizard of oz.

Nah, it looks terrible. People can judge it from whatever angle they want, because that is the point of the sphere. To add in extra angles that the director did not initially intend you to view the foot from. It looks like cheap trash.
