So "Christian" has become a synonym for Nationalism. This "Nationalism" seems to be based on an idealized version of American values from the perspective of old, white, racists and misogynists. It seems like this belief system stems from a deep seated feeling of inadequacy. If the current administration is any example their feelings of inadequacy are well founded.

I am a registered Republican and I have literally never voted Republican. Registered does not always mean that’s what you are. I do it on purpose so that I can vote against the one that is probably leading that I don’t like in the midterms.

I know a kid (14) in Bible study class for youth at a church that's 99% white and conservative, he's real awkward but that's besides the story, but once in a class we were playing would you rather. The first question was to go on a four week trip around the US or go to a foreign country for a week. My sister, once it was her turn to awnser said she'd want to g to China because it looks cool—simple enough. He then interjects and says "they eat animals", to which me and most of the class say we all eat animals. The kid then replied "they eat cats and dogs", and then it was only me and another girl telling him that was a racist stereotype of Asian people. Everyone else ignored said comment by him. I hardly know the kid's dad, but he seems like a Bibble thumber. While this is only antidotal evidence, it has some proof—even if small—that the MAGA movement has some racists people and or ideals to put it lightly. Or at least people who won't stand up against it. Feel bad for the kid since he's really just repeating what his parents say, and it hurts to believe some of my own friends wouldn't speak out against such awful things or maybe even participate in it.
