Its a slow process to get to the point of where you know what tondonwoth yourself. My girls are 18and 17 and when I was where you were it was weird to be needed less but you will feel this more and more. Enjoy the snall things….. going to homegoods without them the grocery store a walk with your dog…… Its hard and emotional but you got this

Let it roll off ur shoulders mama. Granted my kids are older than yours 19, 22, 24. Been through it, it’s not forever it’s just a moment in time. Push forward it’s now time to focus on yourself.

Motherhood is forever. Different chapters of it of course but don’t dwell on what was, be in the now and except that next level. Some chapters better than others but they all have a place in the end.✨

My oldest just turned 11 and I’ve been *struggling* with it. He looks so old to me and needs me less and less. It’s amazing but also so hard.

Ugh hard relate. I’m still in the chapter of having littles (7/5/3), but this is a huge time of transition. My husband died unexpectedly in June so now it’s not only having a kid starting kindergarten and a kid starting preschool and all the feelings around that it’s figuring out how tf to be a single parent and the feelings of not having dad here for those milestones.

I’ve been having such a hard time. My oldest son is 11 and starting middle school. I couldn’t figure out why I was so emotional about it… until I realized I was in mourning… mourning the loss of that “baby” stage. Motherhood is a wild ride. Once you feel like you’ve got it down things change, they change, we change. ❤️

It’s reckoning with the idea that they need us less, and we lost ourselves along the way so we don’t know what to do to fill the void. I have no idea what to do with myself with my free time.

Omg thank you for saying this. I’m hanging on with both hands and I need to start letting go…mine are 17, 13, and 8. Starting to try and find out who I am as a person. I’ve been a mom since I was 19. I feel the worst guilt and I have no idea why. It’s a disease 😂

It’s a lot of letting go mama. Choking it down and letting them go. My oldest is about to be 17 and I love it…they don’t need me as much and I am getting to do so much more for ME and as they get older they come back to you and you have those “talks” and you get them back. Hang in there 💜 let them grow, they will come back to you and you’ll be growing in the mean time

Spot on - both things can be true at the same time. Such an accurate statement re motherhood. (ps love the shellback hat- my dad was the previous owner, for almost 30 years! special place…especially for take your daughter to work day 🤣 crazy seeing the hats everywhere these days!)

Please read the Anxious Generaton - it will ease your worries! The author talks about alllwing our kids to have autonomy and freedom. My kids are 15, 18, 20 - I miss the old days so very much. Moming is emotionally HARD! It’s hard to let these babies grow up. ❤️

My son just turned 12, my daughter is 10. I feel this all too well 🥹 I’ve been reading a ton but that’s because they have friends and a social life that I’m not a part of 😭 but I also love that for them! It’s just hard 💔

But then when they become teenagers, you’re so happy that they are doing everything for their damn selves that the guilt vanishes. You still miss the days they need you, but I no longer feel guilt.
