As a business owner in the trades, I can tell you that the trades are mostly super saturated! They keep saying they need more apprentices, which is true. Apprenticeships only last 4 years and if you start out of high school you'll work for another 30-40 years as a Journeyperson. Journeypeople are being laid off all the time, sitting around doing nothing and changing career paths. The reason businesses keep crying for apprentices is because a lot of these companies I want low cost labour. they only need so many skilled experts at the top of the pay scale. This is also watering down the expertise in the skilled trades but that's another conversation for another time.

no. I said to not listen to these sources as they have incentive structures which may bias their reporting. Creating this news cycle every year of trade shortages or apprentice surplus. As it is now getting into a trade is very nuanced. If you want to get into a trade then you must take it into your own hands. That was the message.

I just got my license I’m 22 years old. The Canadian government just cut apprenticeship grants. Apprenticeships have been saturated in the last 2 years young Jman are what’s in demand

I don’t understand this because there are skilled workers outa work. I even wanted to get into trades and the school told me the last 2 classes haven’t gotten apprenticeship
